ECIA welcomes SBID as new member

At the ECIA General Assembly in Helsinki, 12 September 2009, the Society of British Interior Design was welcomed as a new full member.
The Society of British Interior Design (SBID) was established to represent the finest professionals within the British interior design industry.

The primary aim of the Society of British Interior Design is to Champion the cause of Professional Interior Designers working throughout the United Kingdom. The Society will shed clarity, for potential clients, on the difference between experienced professionals and the ‘hobbyists’ or amateur designers and will, thus, enable British Home owners, Architects, Specifiers and the Managers of Commercial Buildings, to be better informed when making their decisions on new interior design Commissions.

Transparency

All of the Society’s fees and membership Criteria will be open to view for any Member and the SBID will follow a policy which is full inclusive for all sectors of the Design Industry.

Growth

Along with the work it is doing to verify the highest professional standards amongst its members, the SBID has a very realistic ambition to help the industry promote growth. It will do this by raising the profession’s image in the minds of homeowners and their representatives, as well as commercial managers of all kinds. It seeks to ensure that the British Interior Designer can compete with any other industry and maximise its ‘value’ during home refurbishment and commercial building.

Commercial

By including Corporate Membership amongst the hundreds of subsidiary industries, which rely on the success of British interior design and by organising opportunities for Networking, the SBID will encourage a pan-Industry Team that will have up-to-the-minute knowledge of the latest products necessary to satisfy the modern desire for beautiful interiors.
“SBID has a very realistic ambition to help the industry to promote growth."

SBID recognises that British Interior Design covers the domestic and the, rather larger, commercial market and will actively seek membership from commercial designers. It is also understood that large design practices can contain dozens or hundreds of designers so the Society has tailored special packages, in order that whole practices can enjoy the benefits of Membership.
