ECIA RECOGNIZED EDUCATION PROGRAM

Following the success of the introduction of the `European Charter of Interior Architecture Training' ECIA now introduces a recognition program for courses in Interior Architecture/Design and an educational membership for recognized institutions. With this program ECIA aims to further the quality of professional education in Interior Architecture/Design in Europe and enhance the exchange of people, services and knowledge. ECIA Recognition offers schools a quality seal that  endorses students, faculty and alumni.

AiNB demands urgent protection of title "interior architect" in Belgium

AiNB is already during years trying to get the title of interior architect recognized in Belgium. So far AiNB has introduced a request on political level and will take steps again in 2012 now that our government is taking on it's work again. Not only we need this protection for the interior architects themselves, but also consumers desperately contact AiNB as they don't know anymore how to be sure of quality. AiNB demands the recognition of the title and protection of all master interior architects.

We will certainly cmmunicate further steps as soon as possible.

Chinese Interior Design Awards

Next week ECIA board member Carlo Beltramelli and former ECIA general secretary Gerrit Schilder will act as jury members for the Chinese Interior Design Awards 2011, part of the Guangzhou Design Week. Also past ECIA president Kees Spanjers is going to China for promoting World Interiors Event 2013 Inamsterdam an initiative of the BNI.

Next to the event in Guangzhou neighbor city Senzhen is also affected by the design virus with its own design event. Both events are of great importance for the ever-growing Chinese market in the field of interior design and architecture.

Fidias Awards 2011

For the 4th time AiNB organises the Fidias Awards. The goal is to issue an award at a meritorious interiorarchitect in different categories. Also students can participate and send in a project. It's their institute that coaches them for this project.  The Fidias Awards is getting more and more attention and had a big response. The ceremony of the award takes place on november 23rd in Antwerp, in the trendy Red&Blue club. It will be a spectacular evening that AiNB realises with the sponsorship of interior-related partners. INFORMEDESIGN GOING IDLE

03-08-2011 InformeDesign is a free searchable database of design and human behavior research. InformeDesign transforms research into an easy-to-read, easy-to-use format for interior architects/designers, architects, graphic designers, housing specialists, landscape architects, urban designers and planners, and the public.

Due to lack of continued funding, InformeDesign will be placed in idle mode on August 15, 2011. You will still have access to all of the Research Summaries, Implications, and continuing/professional education courses; however, no new information will be added after August 15th. We will still be adding content until August 15.

UK representative for Educational Recognition Program

Frazer McDonald Hay15-04-2011 The board of ECIA decided in her meeting in Zürich on the 19th of March to appoint Frazer McDonald Hay from the UK as representative for the ECIA Educational Recognition Program for the period of one year. Frazer will serve as the liaison between educational institutions and ECIA. He is also the chair of the SBID Educational Committee. He will give a presentation about his activities and experiences in this field in our General Assembly in September / October this year. 

AIT-Scholarships of the STO Foundation

13-04-2011 The STO foundation invites interior design students from several universities all over europe, to apply for a AIT-Scholarship.
The scholarships are financed by the Sto Foundation which has as ist goal the “training of the young generation as an investment in the future of our society”. This is why the Sto Foundation supports young people in their academic training. The superordinate purpose of the Sto Foundation takes up the leitmotif of “Aware Constructing” of Sto AG and promotes the awareness of the significance of the environment- and people-friendly design of the habitat.”

27-01-2011 This inaugural conference of the Interior Educators group seeks to bring together members and other interested parties to create a dynamic national discourse within this diverse three-dimensional design discipline. The Interior Futures Conference will be of relevance to Interior Design, Interior Architecture and other Spatial Design disciplines.

The main aim of the conference is to discuss the current standing of Interior Education in the UK, the relationship of Interior Education to its practice and the way in which current Interior practice and research may inform the future direction of Interior Education

ECIA Congratulates ACE

03-12-2010 ECIA President Joke van Hengstum and Secretary General Gerrit Schilder visited Brussels on the 3rd of December to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ACE, the Architects Council of Europe.

Over the day, a conference addressing EU-level issues of specific importance to the architectural profession was held in the European Parliament.
 

FLOW: a conference in two parts

01-11-2010 Call for Papers
Two linked conferences – FLOW 1 and FLOW 2 – will address issues of the relationships between interiors and landscape. FLOW 1 will take a historical perspective covering the period from the late nineteenth century to the present day. It will be hosted by the Modern Interiors Research Centre (MIRC) in collaboration with the Landscape Interface Studio, Kingston University, in London on the 12th and 13th May 2011. FLOW 2 takes a critical approach to contemporary environments, and will develop themes and issues that emerge at FLOW 1 in London. This conference will take place at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia, in February 2012.
