Membership / Legal aspects
Admittance policy (for regular membership): 

For a full regular membership as interior architect (architect SIR/MSA) the member has to have an exam from one of two interior architecture educations in Sweden (Konstfackskolan, Stockholm or HDK, Gothenburg). Membership can also be received by having the applicants qualifications evaluated, according to the associations rules, by the membership committee.

Other categories of membership: 

The Swedish Association of Architects is the only organisation that covers the field of interior architects. The organisation also covers architects, landscape architects and urban planners. The organisation also has student members.

Rules of Conduct: 

The Swedish Association of Architects has a Code of Conduct. Not yet translated to English.

Contract guidelines: 

Contract guidelines are supplied to the members.

Fee guidelines: 

Fee statistics are supplied to the members.

Salary guidelines: 

Salary guidelines and statistics are supplied to the members.

Professional liability: 

There are standard contracts agreed by the organisations for the clients and the consultants. Interior architects are fully liable for damage caused by their planning / design and specification. It can be limited by contract in time and value. Professional liability insurance is not obligatory for the members but The Swedish Association of Architects offer special liability insurance to its members.

VAT, sales tax: 

Filing and registration is obligatory in the following: Chamber of commerce, Sales tax (VAT), Other taxes, Social security or employer registration for both business and self-employed architects.

Professional Practice
Business licensing: 

Licence for starting business is not required.

Working permits:

No qualifications or registration is needed to submit a request for building permit, anybody may apply.
