Membership / Legal aspects
Admittance policy (for regular membership): 

Is regulated in the statutes and the admission regulations. For regular membership the requirement has so far been 3 years of higher education at one of the three acknowledged colleges (Fachhochschule) at Basel, Lugano or Geneva – or equivalent education from abroad. Applicants with other qualifications have also been accepted when their application has been supplemented by relevant evidence of practice and projects (to be evaluated by the admission committee).

Rules of Conduct: 

The code of conduct is in accordance with the ECIA code. VSI.ASAI. has also adopted a guiding model (Leitbild). Both documents apply for all members and can be downloaded at www.vsi-asai.ch.

Contract guidelines: 

Standard contracts between interior architect and client are provided by VSI.ASAI. and are available in German, French and English.

Fee guidelines: 

Are provided by VSI.ASAI. in German, French and English. They are part of the standard contract.

Professional liability: 

Included in standard contract.

VAT, sales tax: 

Applies to all services by interior architects. Current percentage is 7.6%. National name: Mehrwertsteuer (abbrev. MWSt).

Professional Practice
Business licensing: 

License to start a business is not required.

Working permits: 

No working permit is required.

Building permits: 

Are needed for all building projects, including interior alterations. Permits are submitted by local municipality. Everybody can apply for a building permit.

Building code: 

A "Baugesetz" exists and is regulated on local (Kantonaler Ebene) level.
